Stormwater Issues in Maitland

Collapsed pit and channel covers — both a functional and a safety issue. Undersized stormwater systems — original stormwater capacity was designed for rainfall intensities that newer engineering standards have revised upward. If your property floods in heavy rain that didn't used to cause problems, the network may not have capacity for current rainfall events.
Maitland City Council is responsible for stormwater in the public road reserve. Private property stormwater — from your roof, driveway, and yard drains — is the property owner's responsibility.
